Talking Therapies at The Inner Place
Psychological Assessments, Therapies and Counselling
A Clinical Psychologist provides one-to-one, couple or family therapy for those experiencing distress, trauma reactions, mild to severe mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. It might be that someone is going through a difficult patch in their lives such as bereavement or adjusting to a new circumstance, or maybe just want to develop and foster a more meaningful life.
Therapy can be provided to adults or young people. An integrated approach is used to meet specific needs of clients, drawing from therapeutic approaches known as CBT, ACT, CFT, Systemic, Psychodynamic and EMDR. Clinical Psychologists can also provide specialist neuropsychological assessments and reports for exploring neurodevelopmental and learning difficulties and any potential cognitive deficits. Dr Andrew Turner (CPsychol, DClinPsy, PGCE, BSc), draws upon seven years’ experience of working as a clinical psychologist in NHS Mental Health services.

Hypnotherapy gets the power of the mind working for you rather than against you. Using deep relaxation to access the subconscious – the engine room of the mind, hypnotherapy is a fantastic aid to: stopping smoking, gaining confidence, overcoming fears and phobias, boosting sports and business performance etc.
Hypnotherapy harnesses and redirects the power of the mind helping to overcome many different types of problem. Sometimes through a particular trauma or series of traumas, or sometimes through learned or conditioned behaviour the mind can get locked into an undesirable cycle, producing repeating patterns of negative behaviour which can result in problems such as: anxiety, lack of confidence, depression, phobia, compulsion, anger, or habits such as smoking, drinking, drugs, over eating etc.
Although this behaviour may have been appropriate to the initial situation, if it tends to stay with the person and carries on repeating itself (to the point where it is driving their approach to life), then it may be difficult to break this cycle. Hypnosis is a very effective tool for helping to break these undesirable cycles.
